I saw Taken last night and it is an absolutely fabulous film. Never really considered Liam Neeson as an all out action hero but he is so cool in this movie and probably the fact he isn’t a traditional all out action hero means that he is even better in this film as a man (who just happens to know a thing or two and a person or two) who is fighting to get his daughter back.

I’m no film reviewer so I’m not going to get involved in the plot but it is truly scary (especially as a woman although I suspect I am a tad too old to worry about this particular exploitation). The body count is very high (not something I usually go for but it’s justifiable within the context of the story). I also suspect this film won’t be a huge box office success in Albania. It literally left me breathless at the end.

Perhaps a weird comparison but it’s a bit like all that was very good in the Die Hard films without the bits that eventually made that franchise not so good.

I cannot recommend it enough.

  1. the plot of Taken is refreshingly simple: “Liam Neeson is gonna beat down some people till he gets his daughter back…”
